Halterworth Training School Partnership

Support

All trainees on our programme are students of the University of Winchester. Throughout the course, there is a strong and well‑established partnership between the University, placement schools, and the wider network of support. Each trainee is allocated both a school‑based mentor—usually your class teacher—and a University‑based mentor. These mentors work closely with you and with each other to ensure your training is coherent, supportive, and developmental.

At HTSP, we provide an additional layer of support to ensure you receive the highest‑quality training experience. Our role is to work alongside the University and your placement school to help you thrive throughout your programme.

Reasonable Adjustments

As a student at the University of Winchester, you will have access to the University’s Student Support services. This team can provide guidance and support if you require reasonable adjustments during your studies. Once enrolled, you will be able to meet with the team to discuss your individual needs and agree any arrangements that may help you succeed. Further information is available on the University’s website: Student Support - University of Winchester.

During school placements, reasonable adjustments can also be put in place to enable you to demonstrate your full potential. These may relate to workload, timetable structure access arrangements or specific support strategies. Any adjustments will be discussed collaboratively and a personalised plan will be written and agreed between you, the placement school and HTSP.

We encourage applicants to share any support needs during the interview process. This allows us to begin considering the adjustments we can offer and ensures that appropriate support is in place from the very start of your training.
